From one side of South America to the other in 70 days - this adventure was chronicled in a documentary entitled "Across the Amazon", produced as a partnership between the National Geographic Channel, National Geographic Magazine, Toyota, BossaNovaFilms and CanalAzul in co-production. The expedition resulted in many products: 6 episodes broadcasted on the National Geographic Channel in over 130 countries, 6 internet pills lasting 2 minutes each, a blog, and a competition awarding two winners invitations to participate in the final 700km of the expedition. The 6-person "Across the Amazon" team visited over 35 cities and crossed seven Brazilian states on the way to Peru, aboard Toyota Hiluxes, overcoming difficulties in the terrain, treacherous routes and the unpredictability of nature. The objective was to show the diversity of flora and fauna, as well as environmental problems encountered along the way. The adventures of the group can be followed on the Internet.
